So I contemplated quitting in the last couple of weeks. I did not know if I was going to quit working i.e. teaching, or if I was going to quit studying (my graduate degree). What I did know was that I was starting to sound downright loopy, trying to keep track of what homework was due, both at work and at school, and not being able to keep it ALL together, with a smile.
It was an interesting out-of-body experience, like a helicopter view of me running around in circles. It would have been funny if it wasn't so disconcerting. As I thought about my perceived meltdown, I went through my camera roll of pictures, supposedly to clean it up. Classic procrastinator move.
All things work together for good. I believe that. I landed on these two photos. This is a Journal entry from a 5th grade student of mine. We have been together since she was in Grade 3. SHE had a meltdown then, during her first oral presentation. It was a hard climb back that took a whole school year and more but she trusted me. So did her parents. Together, we were a strong tribond. Today, she is one of the most resilient and fearless students in my class, having learned to bounce back with every challenge. She is one of my brightest hope for the future.
This journal entry requirement was simply to write an entry using at least 5 words from 6 pages worth of interesting synonyms that I titled the "Banish Boring Words" pages (BBW). My broken spirit was restored when I read her words again. I remembered my purpose. I am here to make a difference with my life. I will not quit. I will rest but I will not grow weary of doing good and learning further how to do even more good.
You have purpose too. Some days, you might forget that you have purpose. I urge you to look for your purpose. And never give up fulfilling that purpose.
